If you're a beginner, you're probably wondering why stroke is such a big deal and why countless players spend years and hundreds of dollars on training devices perfecting their stroke. Quite simply; even if your aim is correct, your shot will not go where it was intended if your stroke is not straight. You may have noticed the results of a crooked stroke while aiming a shot that looks about right but when you shoot, the ball goes nowhere close to the pocket.
My recommendation is to work on a straight stroke even before practicing aiming. If your stroke is crooked while you're practicing aiming and you miss, you wouldn't know whether your aim was off or your stroke was off. If you have a straight stroke you can deduce that the problem lies with your aiming
